Frequently asked Questions
How long DOES the Apex stage take to build?
There are a lot of factors that can alter this, for example the amount of stage crew we have to hand and the amount of extra equipment (e.g. sound and lighting). The basic stage itself can be built within 30 minutes with a crew of just three people depending on vehicle access.
Is there space to hang banners on the Apex stage?
Yes, there are a variety of options we can offer where you can hang your banner(s), just speak to a member of our team for locations and dimensions as this can change slightly depending on the where the lights are being hung from the stage.
Can your Apex stage be erected on uneven ground?
Yes it can! But please let us know in advance as to what condition the ground is in, we may need to conduct a site visit.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
Yes, we usually require a small non-refundable deposit just to confirm the date(s) for your event.
Do we need a coverEd stage outdoors?
Not necessarily, however using a covered outdoor stage can make all of the difference to your event. It will be protecting both the performer and the equipment from the weather... It's not just rain that can cause problems, the heat from the sun can cause damage to electronics as well.
Why would you use a delayed sound system or delay stacks?
A delay stack/speaker is used in a PA system for larger events or in long rooms to boost the sound further away from the original sound system. We occasionally use digital time alignment which allows us to digitally delay the speakers closest to the front of a venue, so that each sound from each speaker reach the audience at the same time. This solves the problems which can arise from having too many speakers or a really big venue, eliminating the low quality, echo or distorted effect.
WHY WOULD YOU USE CABLE RAMP?
We require cable ramp when running cables in between the power source and the staged area, or between our F.O.H position and the stage. The ramps we use are dual path heavy duty ramps capable of being driven over, however we do not recommend driving over them! They are a safety necessity to prevent people from tripping over the cables.
What is a F.O.H POSITION/tent?
A F.O.H (front of house) position is our area of operation that is usually between 15m-25m from the stage. This gives us an optimal listening and viewing position when controlling the sound and lights. Sometimes during limited set up time or lack of budget/space, we operate from the side of the stage instead. We have a small range of portable wireless operating equipment enabling us to operate from the audience area.
What is the DIFFERENCE between a Haze Machine and a Smoke/Fog Machine?
Smoke/fog machines differ from haze machines because they have different effects and uses. A smoke machine can be used to fill a space with a heavy smoke effect quite quickly. If used too often throughout a show, smoke can become too thick and dense, leaving the audience unable to see the show properly.
A haze machine can be left for long periods of time dispersing a small amount of the haze effect into the air, leaving a nice balanced appearance throughout the show. The downside is that it takes a long time for the haze machine to fill a space, whereas the smoke machine can achieve this in a matter of seconds.
